World-class design and quality
It is actually Nathaniel Cook from the United States who is behind the design and convinced England's famous chess master Howard Staunton to lend his prestigious name to the new design 170 years ago. Staunton design was patented September 29, 1849 in the United States and has since become standard for all chess tournaments worldwide.
